The Great Depression

| Stock Market Crash | A rapid, unanticipated drop in stock prices, resulting in the loss of money |
| Unemployment | The state of not being employed |
| Hooverville | A shanty town made by unemployed people during the Great Depression |
| Rugged Individualism | The belief that nearly all people should be able to succeed on their own and that help from the government should be minimal |
| Laissez-faire | A policy or attitude of letting things happen on their own own without interfering |
| The New Deal | A group of government programs and policies established under FDR, designed to improve conditions for those suffering from the Great Depression |
