| consultion | a meeting for the purpose of making disisions |
| declaration | an announcement |
| delegates | people who represent other people at a meeting |
| empresarios | people given land grants by the Mexican government to make a settlement and recruit people to live there |
| export | to send goods out of a country or state |
| frontiersman | people who live on the frontier |
| immigration | the act of moving to a new country |
| import | to bring goods into a country or state |
| inspection | the act of carefully looking over something |
| militia | a group of citizen soldiers |
| mission | a religious and military outpost established by the Spanish during colonization |
| plantation | a type of large farm found in the southern United States |
| Provinces | Districts or regions of a territory |
| Rancher | A person who raises livestock such as cattle orhorses |
| Rebellion | Open resistance to one's government |
| Recruit | To select or get the services of someone |
| Reinforcements | Additional men used to build more strength |
