Siege | An attack in which one force surrounds a city or force |

Civil war | A war between opposing groups of citizens of the same country |
Dred scott | A slave who sued in court for his freedom arguing that he was free because he had lived where slavery was illegal (he lost) |
John brown | Abolitionist who attacked a US armory to seize guns to give to slaves in a revolt against slavery (he was hung) |
