1. How did Japan gain it's influence? By the proximity of China.
2. Where is Japan located? It's located near the coast of Asia.
3. What is the largest island Japan is made out of? The largest island was Honshu, And it was also the mainland of Japan.
4. What is a important symbol for the Japanese people? It was a mountainous volcano Mount Fuji.
5. Where did most people settle? Most of the people settled in the coastline and at the few flat plains.
6. Where does Japan sit? It sits between two plates, or sections, of Earth's outer shell.
7. How was Japan formed? It was formed by under water volcanoes .
8. What causes earthquakes in Japan? It starts if one of the plates under Japan moves which then causes a small earthquake.
9. What indicated volcano activity in Japan? The hot springs around the island indicates volcanic activity.
10. What is the closest country in Japan? South Korea is the closest to Japan by more than 200 miles.
11. Who were the first settlers of Japan? The people that settled on Japan were from the mainland of Asia.
12. When did the first settlers come? The historians believe they came in the ice age.
13. When did the 2nd group of settlers come? By about 300 B.C they came.
14. Over time what happened? Contact with the mainland increased and Japan began to borrow the writing system.
15. How were Japanese symbols created? They were made by using the Chinese symbols.
16. What did Korea give Japan? They gave Buddhist priest to Japan (not actually "gave" more like came).
17. What religion appealed to many Japanese people? Buddhism took over immediately even if the Shinto religion was more ancient.
