What did the Japanese believe in ancient times? That theirs was the first land to be awakened by the rising sun.
Which is one of the largest islands in Japan? Honshu island.
What is the highest peak in Japan? Mount Fuji or Fujiyama.
What is 20% of the land in Japan used for? Farming.
Where does the Japanese sit at? The boundary lies between two plates or sections of Earths outer shell.
What happened when the volcanoes erupted? The formed underwater mountain range.
What are the plates beneath Japan doing? Pushing against each other causing earthquakes.
When did Mount Fuji last erupt? In the 1700's.
How many miles in between Japan and Korea? Around 200 miles.
Where did the first settlers of Japan come from? They came from the mainland of Asia.
When did the first wave of settlers come? Around the ice age which was around 11,000 years ago.
In 300 B.C another group came around what were their skills? Working iron and bronze were their skills.
In A.D 550 what did the Japanese do? They borrowed some of the writing system from the Chinese.
What were the two ways Japanese used the writing system? Some characters stood for symbols other were used for sounds and syllables.
What kind of priest came from Korea to Japan? Buddhist priest.
What did Buddhist become to Japanese culture? They became an important part of Japanese culture.
