Equality All people are equal
Accountability People in government are responsible for keeping their promises
Control of the abuse of power People in power can't just do what they want
Freedom of Economic Activity People are free to earn a living as long as it is in keeping with the law
Human Rights All people are equal and have the same basic rights because they are human
Citizen Participation People in a democracy have a duty to be involved in their community
Freedom of Association People are free to join any group they choose and can choose their own friends
Rule of Law There are laws that tell people what they can and can't do. They applyto everyone
Multi-party system People should have a choice so there should be more than one political party
Regular free and fair elections Government will be changed through a regular election in which all people will be able to vote secretly
