TermDefinition
Confederation An alliance of states.
Federation A stronger central government which divides power between central and state governments.
Virginia Plan Stated that the number of representatives for each state should be based on the population of the state.
New Jersey Plan Stated that each state should have an equal number of representatives.
Connecticut Compromise (also called "The Great Compromise") Created two houses of legislature - 1. House of Representatives - number of representatives based on the state's population and 2. Senate - has an equal number of representatives for each state.
