Original 13 States A group of British Colonies on the east coast of America that declared Independence in 1776
Louisiana Purchase Land that was purchased by Thomas Jefferson in 1803 and doubled the size of the United States
Texas Annexation The only territory that was an Independent Republic before it joined the United States in 1845
Oregon Territory Land that was acquired by the United States from Great Britain in 1846 in a Treaty
Florida Cession A Treaty between the U.S. and Spain that gave the territory to the United States in 1819
Gadsden Purchase The U.S. paid Mexico $10 million dollars for the land in 1854
Treaty of Paris The U.S. acquired this land from Great Britain by signing a Treaty in 1783
Mexican Cession Territory that was acquired after a war with Mexico in 1848
