The Battles of the Revolutionary War

The Battle of Trenton On Dec. 26, 1776, after George Washington crossed the Del River, he fought the Hessian soldiers in Trenton. Washington's forces caught the Hessians off guard (surprised them) & defeated them. This victory boosted the Continental Army's spirits.
The Battle of Saratoga Gen.Burgoyne, a British General who retreated to the town of Saratoga in NY to get supplies was surrounded by an army of 3x larger than his. The Americans stayed strong & The British were trapped! They had no food, & lots of wounded Brit soldiers.
The Battle of Monmouth On June 28, 1778 on one of the hottest days of summer, George Washington attacked the British at Monmouth, NJ & won
The Battle of Yorktown On Oct. 11, the Americans and French began a tremendous bombardment (attack) on Charles Cornwallis . British supplies began running low, & many soldiers where sick. Cornwallis surrendured on Oct. 19. The Patriots had won this Battle!
