| Heliocentric | based on the belief that the sun is the center of the universe |
| Circumnavigate | to travel completely around the world |
| Secularism | having to do with worldly, rather than religious, matters; nonreligious |
| Oligarchy | government in which ruling power belongs to a few people |
| Monarchy | government in which a king or queen exercises power |
| Compromise | An acceptable middle ground between two opposing viewpoints |
