What happened during the 1400's? The Aztecs built a great empire centered in the Valley of Mexico.
How were the Aztecs organized? They were organized I rigid class structure that influenced many aspects of life.
Were the Aztecs ever divided into groups? The Aztecs were divided into two main classes: nobles and commoners.
What are nobles? Nobles were a small proportion of society.
What did the nobles do? The nobles made up 5 to 10 percent of the population.
What did the commoners do? The commoners wore plain clothes woven from coarse fiber, their diet consisted mainly of corn, beans, and chili peppers.
What did the men and women do? Men tended the fields, while women worked at home.
Did the commoners work? Some commoners worked as farmers and some worked as artisans making fine craft goods for noble families.
Did the nobles work? The nobles also served as government officials.
What else did men do? All Aztec men were also trained as warriors.
Was there a royal group? There was a group of five royal advisors that helped the king run the government.
Did the Aztecs have a chief official? The Aztecs had a prime minister which is a chief official that was appointed by the ruler of a country.
Were citizens divided into groups? Yes, citizens were divided into small groups called calpulli.
Did the Aztecs control anything? The Aztecs maintained control over the empire through the threat of military force.
