Aztec Society Questions Janet Fabian

1.Did the Aztec Empire have religion and government? Yes, they did.
2.Did the Aztecs worshiped many gods? The Aztecs did worshiped many gods and were governed by powerful rulers.
3.How many main classes were the Aztecs divided into? The Aztecs were divided into two main classes, the nobles and commoners.
4.What were extended families? Extended families lived in adjoining houses around a central courtyard.
5.What was at the lowest level of society? There were slaves who worked for noble families.
6.What did all Aztec children do? They attended school for at least a few years.
7. How was life for most commoners? Life revolved around farming or household duties.
8.Were most commoners farmers? No, some commoners worked as artisans, making fine craft goods for noble families.
9.Were all Aztec men trained as warriors? In fact, the Aztecs were dedicated to the practice of war.
10.Were the Aztecs led by a powerful king? Yes, the king was a member of the royal family but was selected by a council of nobles.
11.How many advisers were military commanders? Four.
12.What were the small districts called. They were called calpulli.
13.Did the empire ever have a true central government? No, instead it was a loose collection of city-states controlled by the Aztecs but ruled by local chiefs.
14.What did the tribute goods have? They ranged from clothing and military supplies to jewelry, and food.
15.Was the government and religion closely linked. Yes.
16.Did the Aztecs believe in many gods. Yes, they believed that the gods gave them life.
17. Who was the most important Aztec god. Huitzilopochtli
18.How many Aztecs were sacrificed? Thousand each year.
19.Was human sacrifice a form of political control. Yes it was.
