The Mammalian Heart
Term | Definition |

Cardiac Circulation | When blood is pumped throughout the heart. The septum is the wall that separates the left and right ventricles. |
The Sinaotrial Node | (SA) A bundle of specialised muscle tissue located in the wall of the right atrium. |
Cardiac Output | The amount of blood pumped by the heart. |
Stroke Volume | The amount of blood forced out of the heart with each heartbeat. |
Septal Defect | A hole in the septum causing oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood to mix. |
Heart Murmur | When one or more of the heart valves does not open or close properly. |
