Cordillera Mountain ranges that run side by side.
Cash Crop A product sold for export.
Altiplano A high plateau.
Navigable When a body of water is wide and deep enough to allow ships to travel in it.
Empire Group of lands under one ruler.
Foothills Low hills at the base of a mountain range.
LLanos Grassy plains.
Sodium Nitrate Mineral used in fertilizer and explosives.
Mestizo To have mixed European and Native American backgrounds.
Landlocked Means to not have any sea or ocean that touches the land.
Subsistence farm Small plots where farmers grow only enough food to feed their families.
