Describe the cross-cultural communication model. (Look at Slide.)
What is verbal communication? Communicating with words.
What are the two types of verbal communication? Oral and written.
What is non-verbal communication? Communication without words.
What are the four types of non-verbal communication? Body language, space, dress/appearance and paralinguistics (noises like hmm, ah etc)
What are interactional factors? Factors which can shape or influence how you communicate
What are some types of interactional factors? – Cultural Space – Face – Gender – Age – Conflict resolution style – Decision-making – Refusal
What is cross-cultural communication? •Analysing the relationship between culture and communication, and •learning how cultural differences influence communication.
