Sustainability The quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources.
Reduce Lowering the amount of waste produced.
Reuse Using materials repeatedly.
Recycle Using materials to make new products.
Composting decayed organic material used as a plant fertilizer.
Conservation the action of conserving something, in particular.
Raw material A material or resource that is still in its natural state.
Fossil Fuel a natural fuel such as coal or gas, formed in the past from the remains of living organisms.
Natural Resource Anything from the environment that people use to meet their needs.
renewable Resource Resources that can be replaced as they are used up or can grow back fairly quickly.
Nonrenewable Resource Resources that cannot be replaced once they are used up.
Nuclear Energy Source of energy that is created by the splitting of uranium atoms.
Geothermal Energy Energy that comes from the earth's internal heat. It produces steam that can be used to heat homes.
Solar Energy Energy produced by the sun. It is the greatest renewable energy source available.
