Time Lines and Westward Expansion

explorer a person who goes to a new place to find out about it.
frontier the far edge of a county where new people are just beginning to settle.
pioneer The first group of people to settle in an area.
territory an area of land owned by a country.
sphere a round object, like a ball.
hemisphere one half of earth, or another sphere
prime meridian an imaginary line that runs from the North Pole to the South Pole through Greenwich, England.
equator an imaginary line halfway between the North Pole and the South Pole.
time line a list that tells the order of important events
year any period of 12 months.
decade ten years
century one hundred years
