| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| DC (Direct Current) | Flows in one direction, from positive to negative poles of a power source; used typically in low-voltage applications |
| Alternating Current [AC] | Reverses direction of its flow at regular intervals: typical for most electrical applications |
| Voltage | Measure of electromotive force between two wires on a circuit |
| Wattage | Power of an electrical load |
| Current or Amperage | The number of electrons flowing through a given point on a conductor |
| Resistance | Measure of a conductor's ability to conduct electricity |
| Transformer | A device used to increase or decrease AC voltage |
| Step-Up Transformer | Increase the output voltage |
| Step-Down Transformer | Decrease the output voltage |
