Operation Barbossa Hitler's invasion of Russia breaking the Non aggression pact.
Allied Powers US, Britain, USSR, France
Axis Powers Germany, Italy, Japan
Battle of the Bulge Last major German offensive, Located in Belgium, France, and Luxembourg . Largest American causality rate in one operation. December 16th 1944- January 25th 1945.
Battle of Coral Sea May 4-8th 1942. Japan's imperial navy Vs American and Australian ships. First time that Allies checked Japanese advances. Helped lead to victory at Midway.
Battle of Midway June 4-7 1942 . Most decisive battle of the Pacific theatre. American victory lead to Japan unable to secure the Pacific.
Blitzkrieg "Lightning War" German strategy of quick shelling followed by infantry taking over territory.
Total War When countries use all means possible for warfare.
Totalitarianism Centralized government which a single party without opposition controls over political, social, and cultural life.
Militarism Government controlled by the military.
Fascism System of government characterized by dictatorship, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of opposition, and extreme nationalism.
Communism System of government in which the state plans and controls means of production. Needs of the whole are more important.
Non aggression Pact German and Russian pact in 1939 agreeing to not fight each other in exchange for splitting Poland.
Manhattan Project United States development on the Nuclear bomb.
Operation Paperclip United states recruitment of Nazi scientists Post war to aid in research and development.
Battle of Britain June 1940. British Royal Air Force defense of The UK from German bombers.
GI Government Issue. Name of American soldiers.
