Equator An imaginary line drawn around the earth equally distant from both poles, dividing the earth into northern and southern hemispheres and constituting the parallel of latitude 0°. a corresponding line on a planet or other body
Prime Meridian The prime meridian is a meridian (a line of longitude) in a geographical coordinate system at which longitude is defined to be 0°
Axis an imaginary line about which the Earth rotates every 24 hours
Longitude the angular distance of a place east or west of the meridian at Greenwich, England, or west of the standard meridian of a celestial object, usually expressed in degrees and minutes. "at a longitude of 2° W"
Latitude the angular distance of a place north or south of the earth's equator, or of a celestial object north or south of the celestial equator, usually expressed in degrees and minutes.
