| Coastal Plain | Along the Atlantic Coast and Gulf of Mexico; Broad Lowlands, Excellent Harbors |
| Appalachian Mountains | West of the Coastal Plain; Old eroded mountains; the oldest mountain range in North America |
| Interior Lowlands | In the interior of the continent; many rivers; rolling hills |
| Canadian Shield | Horseshoe shape surrounding Hudson Bay, Old rock formations carved by glaciers |
| Rocky Mountains | West of the Great Plains; Jagged mountains with high elevation; contains the Continental Divide |
| Great Plains | In the center of North America, Dry, Flat grasslands; increases in elevation as it moves west |
| Basin and Range | Varying Elevations, Cliff and Canyons, Some desert-like climates, contains Death Valley |
| Coastal Ranges | Along the Pacific Coast, Sierra Nevadas and Cascades, contains fertile valleys |
