| Archipelago | A chain or set of islands grouped together. |
| Cape | Point of land extended into a body of water. |
| Delta | A triangle-shaped area of rich soil near the mouth of a river. |
| Desert | A dry region that may be sandy usually with little vegetation. |
| Glacier | A large mass of ice that moves very slowly through a valley or down a mountain. |
| Harbor | A sheltered area of water where ships can anchor safely. |
| Island | A body of land surrounded on all sides by water. |
| Isthmus | A narrow strip of land with water on both sides that connects two larger land areas. |
| Lake | A body of (usually fresh) water surrounded by land. |
| Mountain Range | A group or chain of connected mountains. |
| Oasis | A fertile place in the desert where there is water and some vegetation. |
| Peninsula | An area of land extended into a body of water; water on three sides. |
| Plain | A large, flat or gently rolling area of land. |
| Plateau | An elevated piece of land with a flat top. |
| River | A large stream of water that flows into a lake, ocean or other large body of water. |
| Strait | A narrow channel of water joining two larger bodies of water. |
| Swamp | Low, wet, spongy land that supports a wide variety of plant life. |
| Tributary | A small stream or river that flows into a larger river. |
| Valley | The low land between hills or mountains. |
| Volcano | A mountain that may erupt and release hot liquid or lava along with ash and gas from the top. |
