Describe the US geographical region that includes the Great Plains. Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River.
What was the most important plant in this region? Grass.
What was the most important animal inhabiting this region. The Buffalo.
What natural resource did the plains Indians depend on for their way of life? On the buffalo to supply their food needs.
What was the name of a tribe of Native Americans who lived on the plains. Pawnee.
What is a NOMAD? A Nomad are people who wander from place to place.
What type of plant dominated this region? Trees.
Describe the area of North America included in this region. Trees and forest swept over the land.
How did the Native Americans of this region produce food? The women planted seeds but when the soil wore out they moved on.
Describe slash-and-burn agriculture. The people cleared the land by slash-and- burn by cutting the bark off the trees and when the trees died they set fire to the trees and the surrounding brush around.
What was the Iroquois League and what was its purpose? It was a council and it worked to prevent warfare among member groups.
