| empire | a group of nations or peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress, or other powerful sovereign or government, one ruler rules many lands |
| irrigation | moving water to land in order to aid with the growing of crops |
| monotheism | the doctrine or belief that there is only one God. |
| polytheism | the doctrine of or belief in more than one god or in many gods. |
| temple | an edifice or place dedicated to the service or worship of a deity or deities. (god or gods) |
| monument | something built in memory of a person, event, etc., as a building, pillar, or statue: |
| Flood | a great flowing or overflowing of water, especially over land not usually submerged. |
| theocracy | a form of government in which God or a deity is recognized as the supreme civil ruler and sets the rules |
| bureaucracy | the offices of government in their order of power |
| quality | an essential or distinctive characteristic or detail of an item or person |
| delta | a watery part of the river where it flows into a larger water deposit where there is much fertile land |
| pyramids | (in ancient Egypt) a quadrilateral masonry mass having smooth, steeply sloping sides meeting at an apex, used as a tomb. |
| mastabas | an ancient Egyptian tomb made of mud brick, rectangular in plan with sloping sides and a flat roof. |
| corvée labor | an obligation imposed on inhabitants of a district to perform services, as repair of roads, bridges, etc., for little or no remuneration. |
| mummification | to make (a dead body) into a mummy, as by embalming and drying. |
| persuade | to give someone the reasons why an action is positive for them to do |
| excerpts | a short singled-out part of writing that is taken from a whole body of written work |
