Nullification crisis The right to cancel a tariff
Tariff A tax on foreign goods
Missouri compromise The US was divided equally between Slave states and free states (north and south)
Kansas-Nebraska act Any new state could be a slave state if they wanted
Dred-scott Decision Supreme court said that slaves count as property
Abolitionists people of all races fighting against slavery
Border state Slaves that are slave states but are still loyal to the US
Secede The leave country and create a new one
