The Great, 3/5 and slave trade Compromises made for US Constitution

| What was the 3/5 Compromise? | It counted each slave person as 3/5 of a person. Or every 5 slaves counted a 3 white people. |
| Why did the 3/5 Compromise happen? | Because of the Great Compromise, the slave states (the South) wanted to increase their state population number to get more seats in the US House of Representative in Congress. They wanted more people in Congress who were for slavery. |
| What was the Great Compromise? | Small/large states differed on issue of representation in Legislative branch of the Federal Gov't. They settled for bi-cameral Congress. Senate would have 2/or equal senators from every state. The House of Rep would send reps based on state population. |
| What was the issue over Slave Trade? | The North wanted the new National Government to end slavery, stop importing slaves and the sale of them. The South wanted freedom to continue buying slaves from other countries. |
| What was the Slave Trade and Commerce Compromise? | The North/South states differed over slave trade. The US Congress agreed to not pass any laws stopping the buying or selling of slaves for 20 years -until 1808. THE NEW CENTRAL GOVERNMENT HAD NO POWER TO TAX EXPORTS-GOOD SOLD TO OTHER COUNTRIES |
