Term | Definition |

Equation (Number Sentence) | a mathmatical sentence with an equal sign |
Solve | to answer an equation |
Sum | the amswer to an addition equation |
Difference | the answer to a subtraction equation |
Factor | numbers that are multiplied |
Product | answer to a multiplication problem |
Factor Pairs | 2 numbers multiplied together to get a product |
Multiples | a group of products for a number multiplises of 4: 4, 8, 12, 16, 20... |
Division | taking a large number and separating it into equal groups |
Divisor | the number that is to be divided by (the amount of groups) |
Quotient | the answer to a division problem; the amount in each equal group |
Remainder | the amount that is left over from the equal groups when you divide |
Fraction | part of a whole |
Numerator | the top number in a fraction |
Denominator | the bottom number in a fraction |
Equivalent | having the same value (=) |
Improper Fraction | when the denominator is smaller than or equal to the numerator |
Mixed Number | a number containing a whole number and a fraction |
Area | the measurement of the inside of a shape A= L x W |
Primeter | the measurement of the outside of a shape P = add all sides |
Rounding | estimate 0-4 stay the same 5-9 go up 1 |
Obtuse Angle | an angle larger than 90 degress |
Acute Angle | an angle smaller than 90 degrees |
Right Angle | an angle that equals 90 degrees |
Parellel Lines | a pair of lines that never cross |
Perpendicular Lines | lines that cross and form a 90 degree angle |
Intersenting Lines | lines that cross and do not measure 90 degrees |
Ray | part of a line with an end point and the other end goes on forever |
Point | a location on a line |
Line | a straight path that goes on forever in both directions |
Line Segment | part of a line with two end points |
Symmetry | when something is the same on both sides of the line of symmetry |
Straight Angle | an angle that equals 180 degrees |
End Point | a point that marks the end of a ray or line segment |
