How a bill becomes a law (the steps)

QuestionAnswer
1. The bill is introduced in the House and assigned a number and title
2. The bill is sent to committee for study, then collects information and holds hearings for approval. If approved, it will be sent to full House
3. The bill is read and debated on the house floor. The approved is sent to the Senate
4. Conference committee resolves differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill. The revised bill is sent back to both House.
5. The final approved bill is sent to the Present
6. The president can veto the bill
7. Congress can override a veto by two thirds vote in both houses
