How are the city states of Sparta and Athes different in the Greek city states? Sparta=war like state, No civic participation, strict obedience to rules made by the military, men and women equal. Athens= had a direct democracy where citizens made decisions for the city state. Women, slaves and aliens could not be citizens
What are some achievements from the GOLDEN AGE OF GREECE? Art= beauty is harmony, built temples, statues . Math= created advanced geometry. Literature= created plays and dramas.
What is the Roman Republic? Rome created a new form of Government. Copied from Greece idea of citizen participation. Create a Senate made up of elected officials. The 12 tables was their system of laws.
What are some achievements of the Roman Empire? Law= the 12 tables of roman law. Engineering= invented cement and arches and domes. language= created Latin which is where English comes from.
What are some achievements of India? Invented the zero and decimal "." in Math, Created universities, promoted poetry
India had a caste system. What is this? This system divided society into social classes or levels. The privileged were priests at the top, Then came warriors, landowners, peasants, and at the bottom were the "untouchables" =who were like slaves.
What were some achievements of China? Learned how to make silk, built the great wall of china, learned how to make porcelain.
