| tall tale | Uses humorous exaggeration to explain how something came to be the way it is. |
| character traits | A quality a person shows, such as strength, courage, or humor. |
| legend | A tale that may have started as a true story about a real person or event. However, as it was repeated over time, details were added that did not really happen. |
| fact | Statements that can be proven. |
| fiction | A story that is made up. |
| disease | An illness or other condition that harms a living thing. |
| vaccine | Medicine that could keep people from getting a disease. |
| monument | Something created to honor and remember a person or event. |
| sculpture | A piece of art carved from stone or made from metal or other materials. |
| memorial | Something that keeps a memory alive. It may be a monument, or it may be something different, such as an event. |
| cutaway diagram | Shows the outside and inside of an object at the same time. |
