Satellite countries dominated by the soviet union. Ex: Albania, Czech, Hungary, Romania, and Poland.
Franchise a company that offers similar products or services in many locations.
Obolescence a strategy by companies and manufacturers in which they'd make things become out dated very fast so people could buy the new thing bc the other object is too out of date.
Iron Curtain the term for the division of europe. (meaning that there are 2 parts now..bc of communism)
Blacklist a list of people hollywood executives created for people who they condemned of having a communist background. (ex: later on w. mccarthyism)
Sputnik the soviet satellite
COLD WAR the conflicts between us and soviet union
consummerism the act of consuming, or purchasing many items
brinkmanship the willingness to go to the edge of an all out war
domino theory that speculated that if one country in a region came under the influence of communism, then the surrounding countries would follow in a domino effect.
McCarthyism a campaign or practice that endorses the use of unfair allegations and investigations.
Suburb a common place of freaking living OMG I have so much damn homework
Beatniks a young person in the 1950s and early 1960s belonging to a subculture associated with the beat generation.
Conglomerate a major corporation that includes a number of smaller companies in unrelated industries.
