Moore's Creek Bridge Famous battle during American Revolution between Loyalists and Patriots. Patriots won battle
Wilmington Founded in 1725 by colonists. It soon became the area's leading town due in part to its major deepwater port
Tuscarora War War between Tuscarora Indians and settlers. Indians were angry because settlers kept taking over Tuscarora's land. Tuscarora people eventually lost war.
Halifax Place were congress was held on April 12, 1776 with 80 delegates. Halifax resolve was written. This recommended colonies become independent from Britain.
Edenton One of colony's early towns. Became the Carolina Colony's capital in 1710. Also place where a group of women organized the Edenton tea party
New Bern Mainly settled by families from Switzerland and Germany. In 1770 became permanent center of government for Carolina colony. Also where the Tuscarora War took place
