National Road Began in 1811; completed in 1838 and extended from Cumberland, Maryland to Vandalia, Illinois.
Erie Canal Also called the "Big Ditch", took 8 years to dig, by 1825 linked the Hudson River to Lake Erie effectively linking the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes.
Tariff of 1816 Protective tariff designed to protect American industries by taxing foreign made products which were cheaper.
