What is the Vedas? A book of knowledge. Contain beliefs of Hinduism. Tells you how to live. World is controlled by many gods.
Hinduism believes in 1 god or many? Many gods.
The Caste System Organizes Hindus into hundreds of groups. Born into a caste and can't be changed. Priests are highest(to teach) and servants are meant to serve other castes. Can only move caste in your next life.
Reincarnation A cycle of birth, death and rebirth. each life is a reward or punishment for the life before.
Dharma Found in the Vedas-they are the rules that tell Hindu castes how to live. Following Dharma kept Hindu life running smoothly. You were a outcast if your did not follow rules.
Customs eat no meat, fish or eggs. Worship favorite gods at home. temples and festivals. Gods: Vishnu= the preserver. Shiva=God of Time. Devi=God of mother of creation.
Hinduism today Most Hindus are in India and Pakistan. Vedas are still the most holy books. In 1950 the caste system was ended by the government.
Aryans learned from the Harappans to be farmers and craftsman. The Harappans learned ancient Aryan Songs (Vedas)
