| civil case | in civil cases a plaintiff generally has the burden of proving his or her case |
| felony | a serious crime usually punishable by at least one year in prison |
| misdemanor | an offense punishable by one year of imprisonment or less |
| sentence | the punishiment ordere by a oucrt for a defendant convited of a crime |
| community service | the court imposes that tn individual to work without pay for a civic or nonprofit organization |
| objection | it refers to disagreement of the judgement or specific course of action by court |
| immaterial | physical evidence which does not influence in anyway to trial |
| irrelevant | the testimony being told is not related to case |
| leading quesiton | the method of question by which a perso is directred to answer them in a the way expected by the quesiotnor |
| speculation | guessing do not know for a fact |
| hearsay | evidence presented by a witness who did not see/hear the incident but heard about it from someone else |
| non- repsonsive answer | when a witness does not answer that was asked |
| overrule | judge does not agree with the objection |
| sustain | judge agrees with the objection |
| cross- examine | ask the other side witness' questions |
| affidavit | a written or printed statement made under oath |
