Handball

The study of a sport that originated in Europe and is still played today.

When did Team Handball originate? In the 1900s in Europe.
When did it officially become an Olympic Sport? In 1936.
Who is the only person allowed in the goal area? The goalie.
What ball do the men use? The men use a ball that measures 23-24" in circumference and weighs 15-17 oz.
What ball do the women use? The women use a ball that measures 21-22" in circumference and weighs 12-14 oz.
How long are players allowed to dribble in team handball? As long as they want.
How long does a regulation game last? It lasts for 60 minutes divided into 2 halves. The clock stops only on timeouts, injuries, or at the discretion of the referee.
What is the measurement of the goal? The goal is 2 meters tall and 3 meters wide.
What is the 7m line for? The 7m line is for penalty shots.
What is the 9 meter line called? The 9 meter line is called the free throw line.
How long and wide does the court measure? The court measures 20m X 40m.
How many players on a team? There are 6 players on a team and one goalie.
Are players allowed to jump into the goal area? Yes, but only as long as they release the ball before their feet reach the ground. Otherwise it doesn't count .
How much is each goal awarded? 1 point.
Are players allowed to pull, hit or punch the ball out of an opponent's hands? No, not even if no contact is made.
How long a player hold a ball without moving? 3 seconds.
After receiving a pass you may take only __ steps before and after dribbling. 3 (steps.)
