Term, Person, eventDescription
Magna Carta A document that limited the power of the British king.
Parliament A group of elected officials that run the British government.
Charter A document giving colonies the ability to have their own government.
The Enlightenment A belief system of the 18th century that gave natural (god given) rights every individual. This system emphasized observing and exploring the world around you.
Natural Laws The enlightenment belief that all people are born with god given rights.
Social contract The enlightenment belief that every government exists only for the people. If a government does not serve the people, then the people have a right to change that government.
The Ohio River Valley The piece of land that both the French and English fought over during the French & Indian War.
Fort Necessity The site of the first battle of the French & Indian War. The French defeated the British , led by George Washington.
Battle of Quebec One of the final battles of the French & Indian War. The British , led by General Wolfe, defeated the French.
Treaty of Paris The peace treaty that ended the French & Indian War. England received most of the land in North America.
Albany Plan of Union A proposal by Benjamin Franklin to unite the colonies together to fight the French. This idea was rejected by the Albany congress.
