Discrimination Unfair treatment to a group or individual

Urbanization The movement of people moving from rural areas into the city
Mechanization The use of machinery to do work
Labor Unions When people work to gain improved working conditions and better wages
Strike When workers refuse tot work to try and force business owners to meet their demands
Tenements Buildings that are divided into small apartments
Settlement House A center that provides help to those with little money
Sweetshop Where women operated sewing machines in hot, cramped workshops
Prejudice An unfair negative opinion about a group of people
