Labor Speciliazation The doing of specific types of work by trained or knowledgeable workers.
Griot An official storyteller
Vegetation Zone A region that has certain types of plants.
Sahara A large desert of Northern Africa.
Savannah A grassland in a tropical zone.
Ghana A region between the Sahara the the forests of southern West Africa.
Almoravids A North African Islamic people.
Salt A valuable resource produced and mined in North Africa.
Mali A West African empire founded
Timbuktu A city in Mali that was a center of trade and culture.
Mansa Musa A king in Mali who came to power in 1307
Song Hai A West African people whose leaders created a great empire in 1400
Askia Muhammad A ruler of the Song Hai empire, who took power in 1493
