TPACK

The who's and the what's

TermDefinition
Content Knowledge (CK) The understanding of the material that is to be taught/learned.
Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) The understanding of the processes/methods of teaching/learning.
Technology Knowledge (TK) The understanding of technological tools and resources.
Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) The teacher's ability to understand the course material and find different way of presenting it, and tailoring the lesson to fit the needs of each student.
Technological Content Knowledge (TCK) The teacher's ability to understand how technology and the course material influence one another
Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK) An understanding of how teaching and learning can change when particular technologies are used in particular ways, including the technological tool's range and restraints.
Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) The necessary basis for effective teaching with technology. It combines the understanding of content, pedagogical, and technology knowledge to know how to strengthen, build upon, and develop student knowledge.
Who developed the idea of TPACK? TPACK is not owned by one person, but it rather considered a framework that is still being developed upon.
