Battle Reason for the BattleWho won?Importance
What was the reason for the Fort Ticonderoga? Arnold capture the fort and its larger supply of weapons. Patriots Won! The colonists were forced to retreat!
What was the reason for Trenton? Patriots left there campfires burning all night. Then Washington attacked. Patriots Won! American soldiers took more than 900 prisoners.
What was the reason for Princeton? "Chase My Boys!". Patriots Won! The army and the Revolution was saved.
What was the reason for the Saratoga? New England's "New" strategy. British Won! General Horato Gates was forced to surrender as well as his army.
New England's Strengths Well-trained-well equipped soldiers Large, Powerful navy
British Weekeness Had to cross the Atlantic Ocean Used Mercenaries as their soldiers
United States Strangths Fought for a cause they belied in. Got help from European nations.
United States Weaknesses Untrained, Poorly equipped soldiers. Small navy.
What was the reason for the Lexington/Concord battle? To stop the British from taking the Patriots supplies. Patriots Won! The first battle of the revolutionary war.
What was the reason for the Bunker Hill (Breed's Hill). Henry Knox was assigned to transport the captured cannons to Boston, MA. British Won! To win they had to sacrifice about double the number of patriot soldiers.
