Yao was a legendary Chinese ruler, one of the Three Sovereigns and the Five Emperors
Shun was a legendary leader of ancient China, regarded by some sources as one of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors
Yu was a legendary ruler in ancient China famed for his introduction of flood control, inaugurating dynastic rule in China by founding the Xia Dynasty, and for his upright moral character
Xia is the first dynasty in traditional Chinese history
Shang is the second dynasty of the Three Dynasties Period
Zhou was a Chinese dynasty that followed the Shang dynasty and preceded the Qin dynasty
Chu a state during the Zhou dynasty
Legitimacy the state or quality of being legitimate
"Mandate of heaven" is an ancient Chinese belief and philosophical idea that heaven granted emperors the right to rule based on their ability to govern well and fairly
Conspicuous standing out so as to be clearly visible
