| Ka'ba | a small, cubical building in the courtyard of the Great Mosque at Mecca containing a sacred black stone |

| Khadijah | the first wife of the Prophet Mohammed, regarded as the first convert to Islam |
| monotheism | The belief in one god |
| polytheism | The belief in many gods/goddesses |
| Night Journey | the journey in which Muhammad was carried from Mecca to Jerusalem and ascended into heaven. |

| Sunnah | record of the teachings, deeds and sayings, silent permissions of the Islamic prophet Muhammad |

| Five Pillars of Faith | The five pillars of Islam are the basic framework in a Muslim's religious life as per commanded by their Lord |
| pilgrimage | A pilgrimage is a journey or search of moral or spiritual significance. Typically, it is a journey to a shrine or other location of importance to a person's beliefs and faith |
| jihad | an Islamic term referring to the religious duty of Muslims to maintain the religion |
| shari'ah | the basic Islamic legal system derived from the religious precepts of Islam |
