How are the distances between lines of latitude or longitude measured? Degrees
Which way do lines of latitude circle the earth? Sideways from west to east
Which way do lines of longitude circle the earth? Up and down from north to south
What degree is the equator at? 0 (zero)
What degree is the prime meridian at? 0 (zero)
What are places north of the equator called (latitude)? North latitude
What are places south of the equator called (latitude)? South latitude
Which places are farthest from the equator? The poles (North and South Poles)
Are longitude OR latitude circles the same distance apart? Latitude
What are lines called that run from the North Pole to the South Pole? Meridians of longitude
Meridians of longitude lines always meet where? At the two Poles
Meridians of longitude lines are farthest apart where? At the equator
Where do you start measuring longitude? At the prime meridian
Where do you start measuring latitude? At the equator
When noting the location of a place on earth, do you start with latitude or longitude? Latitude (including north or south), then finish wtih longitude (including east or west)
