| prime meridian | an imaginary line that "runs" from the North Pole to the South Pole of Earth at 0 degrees longitude |
| South Pole | the point on Earth located at 90 degrees south latitude where the lines of longitude meet |
| absolute location | a place on the Earth's surface based on specific geographic coordinates, such as latitude and longitude (for example, "My house is located at 35 degrees latitude and 80 degrees longitude.) |
| relative location | locating a place "relative" to other landmarks (for example, "I live 2 blocks from the school.") |
