equator an imaginary line that "runs" around the center of the Earth at 0 degrees latitude
meridians imaginary lines on Earth that "run" between North and South Poles
North Pole the point on Earth located at 90 degrees north latitude, where the lines of longitude meet
parallels imaginary lines on Earth that "run" parallel to the equator
prime meridian an imaginary line that "runs" from the North Pole to the South Pole of Earth at 0 degrees longitude
South Pole the point on Earth located at 90 degrees south latitude where the lines of longitude meet
absolute location a place on the Earth's surface based on specific geographic coordinates, such as latitude and longitude (for example, "My house is located at 35 degrees latitude and 80 degrees longitude.)
relative location locating a place "relative" to other landmarks (for example, "I live 2 blocks from the school.")
