QuestionAnswer
What is history? a record of the past.
What is geography? the study of people, places, and the environment.
What is government? the people and groups within a society that have the authority to make laws, to make sure that they are carried out, and to settle disagreements about them
What is a citizen? a legal member of a country.
What is Economics? the study of how resources are managed in the production, exchange, and use of goods and services
What is scarcity? a word economists use to describe the conflict between people's desire and limited resources
What is culture? the beliefs, customs,laws, art, and ways of living that a group of people share
What is a culture trait? the food, clothing, technology, beliefs, languages, and tools that the people of a culture share
What are the five themes of geography? location, place, region, movement, and human-environment interaction
What is limited government? everyone, including those in charge, must obey the laws.
What is a unlimited government? government can do whatever they want without regard to the law
What is a totalitarianism? the people have no say, rulers have total control.
What are the three types of resources? Natural (gifts of nature such as forests, fertile soil and water), Human( skills people have to produce goods and services), Capital ( things people make such as machines and equipment to produce good and services)
What is a command economy? the government decides
What is a market economy? individual businesses decide based on what they think the consumers want.
What is a high level of a development country? most people are well educated, having good health, and earn decent salaries. Services such as clean running water, electricity and transportation are plentiful. Technology is advanced and businesses flourish.
What is a low level of development country? marked by few jobs in industry, poor services, and low literacy rates and life expectancy is low.
