S.S. - Landforms

Landforms

TermDefinition
Hill Land that is a little higher than the land around it
Mountain A very tall hill
Valley Low land that is between mountains or hills
Island Land that is surrounded by water on all sides
Peninsula Land that is surrounded by water on 3 sides and land on 1 side
Volcano A mountain with an opening on the top where lava can erupt from
Plains A large flat area of land
Plateau A landform that is large, flat, and is usually higher than the land around it
Lake A body of water that is surrounded by land on all sides
River A body of water that flows across the land and can empty into a sea or ocean
Ocean A large body of salt water surrounding a continent
