Who was Warren G. Harding and what was the purpose of his theory "Return to Normalcy"? A senator from Ohio who was elected President promised to return the nation to stability and prosperity
Who was Calvin Coolidge? A governor from Massachusetts that was elected by Harding as Vice President
What was the Red Scare/Palmer Raids? A time of fear of Communists
Who were Sacco and Vanzetti and what were they blamed for? Italian Anarchists possibly responsible for robbery and murder, they were believed to be communists
What was the Teapot Dome Scandal? It involved secretary of the Interior Albert Fall, accepted large amounts of money and gifts from private oil companies, he allowed companies to control government owned oil reserves
What did the Prohibition Amendment 18 do? It outlawed the use and selling of alcoholic beverages
What was the purpose of Isolationism? To avoid involvement in foreign affairs
What were Speakeasies? A secret bar selling alcohol
What was The Scopes Trial? When John T. Scopes was put on the trial for teaching evolution
What was Installment/Buying on Credit? Buying items with credit instead of currancy
What was The Klu Klux Klan (KKK)? Christian Protistents
What was the Harlem Renaissance? A period of African-American artistic accomplishment
What was the Lost Generation? Writers who criticized American Society in the 1920's
Immigration Quotas Not allowing certain immigrants to move into America
Nativism People who were born in America
What was the Great Migration? When African-Americans began leaving the South to find jobs up in the North
What were Flappers? Women who cut their hair short and wore makeup and short dresses, often challenged to their behavior
What was Amendment 19? The women's right to vote
What was the Automobile and what was the purpose of it's invention? The invention of the car for better transportation and getting to places such as work faster.
