What is a Parliamentary democracy ? Citizens elect only legislature, then they elect executive
What's is a market economy? Buyers and sellers control the economy
Command economy? The government controls the economy
Mixed economy Buyers and sellers have freedom with a few restrictions

How is the constitution amendmened? 2/3 of congress propose and 75% of the states must approve.

What is a primarily election? When members of a political party vote on who should represent the party in the upcoming general election.
What is a general election? Consist of candidates from different parties competing to control a government position.
What are congresses major powers? Declaring war, raising and lowering taxes, regulating interstate commerce.
What is the necessary and proper clause? Allows congress to make laws not specifically written in the constitution, ex using nuclear weapons and providing health care.
Civil rights act of 1964 Prevents schools and public places from discrimination based on race, gender and ethnicity
Voting rights act of 1965 Removed discriminating laws that prevented people from voting
Title IX Forces schools to treat male and female students equally

What's a plea bargain? When a defendant admits to a crime for a smaller punishment
What's is a plaintiff? The person who is filling a formal complaint against a defendant, a person wins by having a preponderance of evidence
What is a preponderance of evidence . Having more evidence than their opposition
Consumer price index? Measures inflation changes in a country
What is a sanction? A punishment, ex: embargos.
Fiscal policy Consist of the president and congress deciding the spending and taxing polices in the government
Monterey policy Consist if the federal reserve deciding how to keep money supply stable in order to keep inflation balanced.
What's happen during a recession? The go tries to increase the money supply( higher spending, lower taxes decrease interest rates/ reserve requirement/ discount rate, buy securities)
What happens during high inflation? The government tries to decrease the money supply ( lower spending, higher taxes, increased interest rates/reserve/ requirements/ discount rate,sell securities
How do local and state governments decide how land will be developed? By using zoning boards
What are the two land development theories Urban sprawl and smart growth
What is urban sprawl? Develop on open land, destroy green space and heavy in diving traffic
What is smart growth Rejuvenated cities that already exist, save green space: forces in making community's walkable and use public transportation.
What is the elastic clause? Gives the national government implied powers, can stretch the constitution and create laws that are not directly stated.
What documents helped outline the constitution? The Magna Carta( limited government, rule of law), English bill of rights ( separation of powers, social contract) the mayflower compact ( popular sovereignty/ power comes from the people),.
What are enumerated or delegated powers? Power for thenational government ( congress)- to declare war, print stand coin money
What are concurrent powers? Powers that are shared ( establish roads)
What are reserved powers? Powers that are for the state government ( schools and marriage )
