Why was the South confident in victory? The South believed that the North… didn't have a strong reason to fight
Why did each side believe their “cause was just?” The North believed… They had to fight to save the Union. The South believed… They could leave the Union.
What decisions did many of the 8 slave states have to make about the Union? The 8 slave states needed to decide… on which side they wanted to represent.
Which states joined the Confederacy? Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, & Arkansas
Why did some of the slave states decide to stay in the Union? Some slave states decided to stay in the Union because… They had half of the south population, and food crops.
Why did many feel he was a stronger leader than Lincoln? People felt Davis was a stronger leader than Lincoln because Davis had military experience.
Who was Abraham Lincoln? He was the President of the United States. He didn’t have a lot of experience, but he had a great sense of humor.
How did Lincoln use his sense of humor to win those around him? Lincoln used his sense of humor to brighten the mood.
Why did John Finnely try to make a break for the Union army? He hoped for freedom
For the North, What was the Civil War about in the beginning? it was to restore the union
Why didn’t Lincoln free all of the slaves? Some were loyal slave states and some were captured by the union
